Gaining Perspective: Real-Life Stories

Adoption STAR realizes that there are many different paths to parenthood, and for some, adopting a child involved with the child welfare system is an incredible option. Although Adoption STAR is not an agency that provides “foster adopt” services, we wholeheartedly support child welfare organizations across New York State.

For example, we are members of CAFFA (the Coalition of Adoption and Foster Family Agencies) here in Western New York. We are proud to stand with other CAFFA members in an effort to support and enhance the delivery of quality adoption services to families and children. To learn more about CAFFA, you can visit their website at www.wnycaffa.org

We also attend regular meetings with the New York State Office of Child and Family Services, the state-based entity that, as their website states, “is responsible for programs and services involving foster care, adoption and adoption assistance, child protective services including operating the Statewide Central Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment, preventive services for children and families, services for pregnant adolescents, and protective programs for vulnerable adults.” You can learn more about NYS – OCFS by visiting their website at ocfs.ny.gov.org
