Adoption Advocacy
As a responsible agency, Adoption STAR takes a stand on certain issues and speaks out on them when necessary. As one becomes a parent, whether by birth or adoption, the parent begins to develop skills to help their child to succeed by selecting what is in the best interests of the child. This is in essence, the meaning of advocacy.
Adoptive Families
Adoption STAR believes that adoptive parents need to understand their rights. Such as, the right to receive all available medical and background information on a birth family and baby, the right to education on all aspects of the adoption process, and the right to ask questions. Adoptive parents should feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, fears and questions with the agency they are working with.
Birth Families
Adoption STAR encourages expectant parents and birth parents to understand their rights. Such as, the right to free counseling, confidentiality, the right to be free from pressure when making a decision about adoption, the right to be treated with respect, the right to select the adoptive family and to engage in an open adoption relationship, and the ability to receive help with medical bills, etc. Birth parents have the right to participate in the entire adoption process and should feel comfortable selecting an agency that best meets their needs.
If you are in need of advocacy assistance regarding adoption and its related issues, feel free to call us directly or email us at info@adoptionstar.com.
