Adoption STAR’s Birth Parent Department Supervisor Sue Shaw shares her thoughts on receiving an important award at our “15 and Fabulous” event in May of 2015.
Adoption STAR celebrated it’s 15th birthday this year at an event entitled “15 and Fabulous: Fifteen Years of Touching Lives.” During an awards ceremony at the event, Adoption STAR Founder/CEO Michele Fried awarded me with an honor that bares her name – the Michele Fried Founders Award. It has been several weeks since I received it, and I am still overwhelmed and overjoyed.
This is the first award I have ever received in my life! Before handing me the award, Michele spoke so beautifully about why I was the recipient of it. To be told that I mirror her passion for adoption is the single greatest compliment I have every received. Michele has been my mentor, my inspiration, and my friend for the past 9 years. I strive to be like her every day.
As I have said before, one of my all-time favorite quotes is, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I feel honored and grateful to be a part of Adoption STAR and to work alongside such passionate coworkers every single day. We aren’t just a team at our agency…we are a family.
