On Thursday, September 20, Adoption STAR will be hosting a support group meeting for families waiting to adopt. This meeting is part of Adoption STAR’s SOFIA Support group, which is open to both adoptive families and waiting families. The meeting will take place at Adoption STAR’s Buffalo office (47 Plaza Dr. Williamsville, NY) starting at 6:30 pm.
Adoption STAR staff members are not in attendance at SOFIA meetings, instead the sessions are led by Adoption STAR adoptive families who are there to help families along their adoption journey. This is a great way to network with and ask questions of families who have had similar adoption experiences.
Adoption STAR believes that adoption education and support are two big aspects of the adoption journey. While it’s very important to learn from your family advocate as well as books and adoption websites, it’s also valuable to connect with families who have already grown their family through adoption. These connections can often become lifelong friendships.
