Join us for “Race Matters” – THIS WEDNESDAY

Please RSVP for this important educational opportunity, especially for those touched by transracial adoption.

susan_adultAdoption STAR’s Sue Reardon (our Adoptive Parent Mentor and Coach) is running a class that’s sure to be of tremendous value for attendees. It is entitled “Race Matters,” and it’s designed to help participants explore a host of important topics, including race, identity, and discrimination (and that’s just the tip of the iceberg).

The class has an instructional/lecture component, with a special focus on video clips to help guide learning. There will also be a discussion led by a panel of individuals eager to share their stories and experiences (and field questions from audience members, of course). The panel is comprised of 2 adoptees and one adoptive mom, all of who have a personal connection to transracial adoption.

The class is happening on Wednesday, April 13th at Adoption STAR’s main office (131 John Muir Drive, Amherst, NY 14228) from 6pm to 8pm. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP by calling 716-639-3900 or e-mailing us at info@adoptionstar.com.

Pertinent current events will be incorporated into the discussion, as will key topic areas including (but not limited to):

  • Love being “colorblind”
  • Racial identity
  • Recognizing and understanding white privilege
  • Race relations in the United States
  • Race Education
  • Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice System

We’d welcome your participation in this class – please join us!
