Shining Star is an annual fundraiser in support of our special needs adoption program, and it happened on Wednesday, January 29th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at Statler City in downtown Buffalo. Hundreds of Adoption STAR families, supporters, staff, and board members attended in an effort to make the event a success! Maryalice Demler from WGRZ-TV Channel 2 served as the event emcee (as she has so graciously done for countless Shining Star celebrations).
Live music by the Time Pirates, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and a fabulous basket raffle and silent auction helped to make the evening both enjoyable and memorable. A big “thank you” to all of those who attended or provided financial support in lieu of being unable to attend.
During the program portion of the event, Adoption STAR acknowledged two dedicated volunteers, Jerri Dauria and Wendy Guyker, by thanking them for their service and providing them with some small tokens of appreciation for all they do for the agency. We also got to thank Parker Gevirtzman and his husband Paul, who have held multiple fundraisers over the course of the last few months on behalf of the agency. Lastly, Laura Voigt from Elly’s Angels presented a check to Adoption STAR CEO/Founder Michele Fried and Associate Director Michael Hill to assist special needs children in need of adoption. Elly’s Angels has been an incredible source of support for our special needs adoption program for several years now, and everyone at Adoption STAR is so appreciative of their tireless work and dedication.
