The Human Right Campaign Seal

HRC SealOn November 23rd 2013, HRC (Human Right Campaign) Representative Chris Carolan presented CEO and and Founder Michele Fried, Client Relationship Manager Zack Fried and Family Advocate Shannon Boeheim with the seal. The presentation of the seal was held during Adoption Awareness month (November) in Brooklyn, NY.

We’re proud to announce that the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s “All Children – All Families” Seal of Recognition was bestowed upon Adoption STAR during an agency event in Brooklyn on November 23rd, 2013. Adoption STAR earned this honor by meeting the required criteria for fully inclusive policies and practices in working with the LGBT community.

Adoption STAR is proud to have a long-standing history of partnering with not only LGBT adoptive parents, but also LGBT birth parents, board members and employees. Adoption STAR has always been inclusive. Inclusion to me is simple,” says Michele Fried, Founder and CEO of Adoption STAR, “Everyone may participate. Everyone may receive the support, training, advocacy and resources necessary for the adoption journey. To us, there is really no such thing as LGBT adoption ~ It is simply called “adoption”. This is why we are so very honored to receive this recognition from HRC.

Adoption STAR has joined the family of child welfare organizations that are truly committed to creating more loving families by removing barriers to qualified LGBT adoptive parents. LGBT individuals and couples in New York have another trusted resource to turn to when pursuing adoption,” added Ellen Kahn, director of HRC’s Children, Youth, and Families Program and a professional social worker.
