Telling Your Child Their Adoption Story

In September 2011 Adoption STAR held its first “Telling Your Child Their Adoption Story” workshop in Rochester, and we are happy to be bringing the class back in 2012, this time in Buffalo. This interesting and informative workshop will take place on Thursday, September 13, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Adoption STAR Buffalo office (47 Plaza Dr. Williamsville, NY 14221.)

This workshop will focus on tips for talking to your children about their adoption. Some adoptive parents have great memories of being in the delivery room when their child was born, and can share these moments with their children one day. Others may not have as much detail about their children’s first days but can still tell them of their first moments together, and the emotions they felt when they received the call that they were going to be parents.

The “Telling Your Child Their Adoption Story” workshop will also look into addressing difficult to share birth family background information, as well answering more specific adoption-related questions when your children become older.

Adoption STAR Client Relationship Manager, Zack Fried, attended the workshop in Rochester last year and wrote a blog post about the experience. You can read that post here.

This class is perfect for both adoptive families and families who are waiting to adopt. To RSVP or for more information, please email info@adoptionstar.com or call (716)639-3900. There is a $5 fee per-family to attend this workshop.
