When Hollywood Adopts

With news of Sandra Bullock’s second adoption comes an opportunity for dialogue on transracial adoption, the foster-adopt system, altruism and more.

For better or for worse, the real life happenings of Hollywood’s stars and starlets garner a lot of media attention. When it comes to the concept of adoption, a laundry list of Hollywood types come to mind, such as Angelina Jolie-Pitt, Madonna, Sheryl Crow, and most recently Sandra Bullock.

A December 6th, 2015 article in the Washington Post by Lonnae O’Neal reminds us that Bullock’s latest adoption, and all the media coverage that comes with it, provides us with an opportunity to more openly talk about a range of adoption-related issues and topics (and the accompanying range of emotions that comes from an honest discussion of all of it).
